Vassbakken Kro & Camping AS is a cozy campsite and inn in Skjolden, at the very beginning of the Lustrafjord, an arm of the Sognefjord. The site is idyllically located in a green valley surrounded by steep mountains, right next to the national tourist route Sognefjellsvegen.
Live close to fjords, mountains and glaciers
Vassbakken has cabins, tent and camper pitches, an inn with traditional food and views of waterfalls and nature. There are also good opportunities for fishing, canoeing and short day trips right from the site. In short, Vassbakken is a perfect base for experiencing both fjords, high mountains and glaciers in one of the most spectacular areas in Norway.
An Eldorado for mountain hikes, glaciers and high mountains
North of the campsite lies Jotunheimen National Park with mighty peaks such as Hurrungane and Turtagrø. This area is known for summit and mountain hiking, climbing and skiing. A short drive away you will also find Breheimen National Park, with beautiful valleys, glaciers and high mountain terrain, perfect for hiking and outdoor activities. And if you take an hour's drive south, you will come to Nigardsbreen, one of the arms of the great Jostedalsbreen.
Vassbakken Inn - a good break on the road
Vassbakken Inn is a natural gathering place for both guests and passersby. Here you will be served traditional, home-cooked food in a quiet and pleasant environment. The inn is a nice place to take a break after a day of hiking, with views of waterfalls and magnificent nature around you.
